Dragonslayer1945 - The One Million Dollar XP Man

WGT Country Clubs are great places to build community where members can play together, earn XP to level up the club (to earn in-game rewards) and work together to compete against other clubs for prizes in CC Events.

WGT Legend player Dragonslayer1945 is currently a member of The Yorkshire County GC and was brought to our attention by a fellow club member. Dragonslayer1945 has greatly contributed to his club and recently earned a total of one million+ XP points for them by playing games using Club Passes. The Yorkshire County GC is currently at Club Level 12, closing in on Level 13.

A WGT player since 2010, Dragonslayer1945 says that when he is not busy earning XP for the club on WGT, you can find him playing darts, snooker or cheering on his favorite county football team. When asked what advice he would give to new WGT players, he echoed other high-level players and encourages them to "just keep plugging away and you will get there."

FUN FACT: Something you may not know about Dragonslayer1945 is that collecting antiques is a favorite hobby!

CC Events allow WGT Country Clubs to compete against each other for golf glory and special in-game rewards. The club that earns the most total points from their Clashes wins.

Each Event is made up of Club Clashes that last for a limited amount of time (usually a few hours). When your club enters the event, you'll get matched with another club close to your skill level, and a timer will show how much time is left in that Clash. Club members from both clubs can play as many rounds as they want during that time, using Club Passes and Superpasses to earn points.

The ability to control your drives off the tee plays a big part in your success on the golf course – both real and virtual.

We've put together some game tips for those of you looking to improve your long game on WGT Golf, and be sure to let us know what your best WGT driving tips are on our Facebook page! 

GET THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT - Just like playing real golf, having the right driver for you makes a difference in your game. Compare virtual drivers in the WGT Pro Shop, to see how the attributes and benefits stack up, and decide which is best for your style. Remember, you can always rent equipment for 24 hours by choosing RENT or TRY ME (WGT Golf Mobile), before you buy.

• When playing WGT on desktop you can compare up to three clubs at a time, side-by-side, by selecting the "Compare" check box of each club, then "Compare" at the top of the page.

ADJUST BALL SPIN - Depending on each tee shot, you may want to change the flight of the ball to be higher or lower. One easy way to do this is to adjust your ball spin. 

• If you're using a high lofted driver, players feel drives tend to do better with no more than 3/4 backspin, while setting a full backspin will result in shorter drives.

WATCH THE WIND - Use the wind meter in the top right of your screen to see the speed and direction of the wind on each shot. If you find yourself in strong cross-winds, try missing the "ding" on the side where the wind is coming from.

• For example, if the wind is blowing right to left, try missing the "ding" slightly to the right of the center line. After some practice, you'll start to get a feel for how much you can/should miss the "ding" and end up with a good shot.

PRACTICE - Being able to hit consistent drives and knowing how to adjust power, aim and spin for wind/course hazards is a mix of skill and practice. Spend some time getting a feel for these adjustments and understanding your clubs by playing practice rounds and rounds with WGT friends.

Champion tier WaLk0fLiFe wins the IOA Golf Classic, the first tournament in the Oct-Dec 2015 WGT Virtual Tour Quarterly Season.

With a final stroke play score of 109, WaLk0fLiFe sits at the top of the Champion tier leaderboard, with WGT players fmagnets and KonradOse close behind with 113.

Fall is here and so is the Leadbetter A Swing Challenge, November's WGT Virtual Tour tournament.

This stroke play tournament is the second tournament of the Oct-Dec Quarterly Season, including an unlimited play first round (11/1-11/25) and a single-play final round (11/26-11/30).

Congratulations to Courtney01, the newest WGT Virtual Tour Quarterly Season Champion!

Last week, Tour Legend Courtney01 took on Champion tier fmagnets to compete for the Jul-Sep Virtual Tour Quarterly Season Championship match. This Match Play round was a real nail-biter and could have gone either way with these top players. Here's a quick recap, in case you missed it...

Courtney01 came out strong with a birdie on hole 3 and an eagle on 4 to stay 2-UP through the first 5 holes.

Competition held strong while fmagnets fought back, then made things interesting with an exciting comeback to even out the score on the 10th. 

Despite Courtney01's attempts to get ahead, fmagnets held strong under pressure to even the score again by hole 14. Ultimately, the match came down to the last two holes, where Courtney01 followed up a great shot with a birdie on 18 for the win and the 10,000 WGT Credit bonus prize.
