PC vs Mobile..the war

  Being one of the hybrid players of this game (I play both mobile and pc) I feel that I have pretty good understanding of this subject. I going give you guys the major differences that I noticed between my iPad, PC Laptop, and Mac desktop.

  I well start first with the iPad that I play on most of the time (this is due to me loving to play one-on-one matches for silver coins on mobile). One major difference right away is that there are silver coins and all those silver coins can do is rent this coin clubs. However you cannot buy coins with money you can only win them from a free spin which only offers free coins and you can win a scratcher from it which also can only let you get silver coins that are only available once per day. Now to the actual gameplay part a major difference that you will notice with your first swing is that the meter is way smoother and is very consistent, however I find that it is way harder to ding my shots on mobile. (I get about 8 dings a round compared to roughly 40 give or take on pc). However when I do miss I do not miss it by very much and its close enough to a point to where I say hey that should be ding, but it wasn't a ding, but since it is so close ding it almost plays the same as ding its just a foot or two off target. A huge difference is putting which I happen to prefer mobile for because I find it much easier to read the greens and with the smoother meter I can anticipate my mishit and align myself accordingly. So I happen to find mobile most enjoyable when I decide to play on alone or want some one on one competition. My scores on mobile vary wildly from 30 I shot 2 days ago in a 9 hole tourney. to 41 I shot today in another tourney. Most of the time though its between 32-36.

  Now for my laptop pc, and I am not going to lie I don't really play it much due to several issues. One my laptop I think just isn't that good and can't exactly perform the way you would think (I got 4 years ago for about $500) The meter lags quite a bit yet I get at least twice as many dings then mobile. Not too much for me to say since I don't play it often enough, besides reading greens are way different than mobile and in my opinion harder to read.

  Now for my desktop Mac, which I am going to point out I play my tourneys in WGT split 50-50 between this and mobile. I love playing on this whenever I can for multiplayer games and tourneys. On this my meter is incredible smooth (not quite as smooth as mobile but it might help that I have 30 in monitor or something around that size.) A major difference on this is I get a lot of dings around 40 give or take as I mentioned in the mobile part. I do tend around once a day between the couple multiplayer games I play I will have shot that has everyone say 'what was that' which happens when my mouse click isn't registered when I click it and then clicks at the very end of meter and shanks my shot (I don't have this problem on mobile). I also tend to play this version more and play better when the green speeds are faster (Tournament or higher) because I able to tell the speed of the greens better on the Mac version. My scores on here are a little more consistent I shot 66 on a multi round tourney this week (36-30) 66. And those nine hole scores sum up the vary degree of my rounds on Mac.

  I hope this was an answer you were looking for desotojo, being someone that has played both, I only shared the differences I noticed, each version has pros and cons, but overall I see that are pretty even in terms of playing field, the factor that you really haven't considered is that the ads on the mobile version you can watch are anywhere between 15-60 second ads that give you two gold coins for each on you watch which may be a factor, so they may get better clubs quicker hence why they move up tiers so quickly.

  I need several strokes more on my high end android tablet (Samsung Tab S) than I need on my desktop PC even if the PC has modrate meter trouble during the round. But with some of my Laptops I would probably need even more strokes and cheap balls because some of the laptops send the balls right and left into the landscape much of the time.

  BTW a bluetooth mouse works with an android device. But not with all apps. And the mobile client is one of those apps that completely ignores the mouse. Exept if you run it on a virtual android system on your PC.

  I am in agreement with you, DESOTOJO and WOODWORKERY.  

  I have read many comments in this WGT Forum that has me convinced that "Mobile" players have a distinct advantage over those of us who play using PCs.  I have even seen several Profiles recently, where the WGT member stated in their "status"....I only play PC players.

  I've played now on WGT for about 4-1/2 years.....using a Laptop computer along with a conventional mouse.  I'm definitely NOT the best Champion Tier player.....but, I'm not bad.  But, when I see low tier players that manage to post ridiculously low scores.....players with "very little experience".....I find this very odd.  HOW does a Master or Tour Master manage to go toe to toe with any Champion???  IMO, it's because those players are using a Mobile device.

  Maybe, WGT should place some type of "icon" or way of indicating on everyone's Profile IF they are "Mobile" or "PC".....player....so, we'll know.  Maybe there should be Country Clubs ONLY for PC players and others ONLY for Mobile player?

  I'm taking an "extended leave of absence" from WGT golf.....for a variety of reasons.  My design practice isn't allowing me the time and I have already spent a ton of $$ here on WGT.  Yes, I know, some players play "for free" using the Surveys.  But, when you average between 90 and 100 rounds per month over 4-1/2 yrs...those surveys aren't enough to keep up with the cost of descent balls, IMO.

  There's also the aspect of "burn out".....which I'm feeling.  I've been at the Champion Tier for nearly 2 years...and I know I'll never reach the next highest Tier.  I know of another active Champion who has over 23,000 ranked rounds...and he has yet to be invited to be a "Tour Champion"...really?

  WGT is still a really FUN game....and addictive for sure.  But, this whole thing between "Mobile" vs. "PC" players......just may come back to bite WGT where it hurts.....in their wallet.

  Simplest solution for PC players who would like to play mobile: use an emulator such as Nox or BlueStacks. You have the large monitor/screen, a mouse, and the extra advantage of being able to view 2 credit videos.

  Aside from clashes, which only a few select clubs place any value in... what does that really matter... if it did... WGT would have fixed it by now... it isn't new info.

  That being said, on one hand I agree and also disagree because while I started out playing mobile alone... there are far more help and tips for PC players to rapidly improve.  

  The sponsor apparel while helpful is not available for ranked rounds like Ready Go tournaments... so mobile players are playing straight up against desktop players.  And as far as I know there is still no cross platform play taking place.  

  Unless... a desktop player has used a android emulator and playing mobile on their desktop, in which case the desktop player playing mobile with an emulator likely has a decided advantage over a genuine mobile player on a small phone or tablet where it seems harder to hit the ding consistently (at least for me).

  I also have found the availability of all the desktop aids actually simplifies the game for desktop players.   For example many desktop players will use the ruler or other devices to determine wind offset.

  Mobile players do not have that option making it far more difficult to play heavy winds on the mobile platform.  You can eventually learn some strategies for playing heavy winds but it is still more difficult... or at least it has been for me.

  The sponsor apparel does shorten the courses when you have a maxed out driver, but I also personally find putting to be more finnicky on the mobile platform and more challenging to read some of the breaks.  

  The only time a huge disparity arises on mobile is if a lower tier player who hasn't maxed out their apparel or equipment takes a shot at a higher tier coin room and runs into a champion with maxed out equipment.  Then those two mobile players will see an equipment differential.  

  All done and said, it seems a case can be made for either side, depending on your preference, but in my experience I find it easier to score better on the desktop PC than I do mobile.  I still play both but I get far more frustrated playing mobile because I find it more difficult to putt with confidence.

  I use a Putting chart, ruler, club distance chart(Mapped Clubs), notes and wind chart when I play. most I have memorized. I could not do that on mobile.

  I believe most of it carries over... the putting chart may need tweaked because i think most agree the greens seem to play a little different... not completely just enough that adjustments need to be made.  You also need to adapt to a way to estimate wind offset with visual cues, aim box or grid box.  That is in part why i feel mobile takes a little more time to learn n play consistent.  

  But when i first tried desktop i hated it until i started learning from the forum and videos.  Now i prefer desktop over mobile.  Even during a clash when you can use sponsor gear... i am more confident in putting on desktop.  To me, the only time it is worth using mobile for a clash is the bop5. 

  Now for mobile specialist, that putt very well, they do have an advantage in clashes.
