I know with the putter each movement is a certian amount of yards. Does this also aply to the irons?

    Thanks Nesta

How are you at calculating percentages?

Yes ... more or less. But anything less than about 75% of an iron is a chancy thing ... that's why we have 7 of them. Best thing to do is set up a practice round and pay attention to the carry and total distances when you  back off avatar moves.

The putter distances tend to be linear since the overall distance is minor compared to an full shot iron.

For Iron shots there is alot more you need to account for.

    1. Amount carry.
    2. Ball you are using.
    3. Green speed.
    4. Iron Level, (lvl 60 vs lvl 24);  There characteristics will be significantly different.
    5. Amount of spin applied.  Will affect ball flight, carry and roll.

So will an iron hit at 75% go 75% of the rated iron distance.  No, it will not.

Bollux uses the first move in the backswing. He's obviously using that as a solid reference point and it makes sense. What it actually is is where the individual comes in because different clubs and conditions will affect it. The key is that it is a solid reference mark in the swing that you can use as a base for your own calculations. GL

A strip of paper stuck under your meter with percentages marked on it.
