Thanks; are you saying one can "rent" (as in No Cost) the good clubs and balls to see how 'good equipment' works?  Might as well also ask; with the "good clubs", does that mean the Swing Meter speeds up too and/or can one adjust the meter to their liking?

"My best ever with all free stuff was a 32 on StA f9"

    Damn Good! :)

Well Liz, I can defintely admit I could NEVER shoot a 32 with hack clubs in a thousand Lifetimes. :)  So it must be a Generational Geek Thing that makes today's gamers so skilled and adept with quick with eye-hand control since "we 57-year old Baby-boomers" can't play video games very well because "our" brains weren't wired that way I suppose? :)  And if the Swing Meter goes even faster using the Good Clubs, then I'm Done Like Dinner. Ha

In fact, I tried using the higher trajectory Hack Driver in my bag and the speed just for "that club" is too fast for my brain.  So I went to back to using my default driver (slower).  So it doesn't look like I'll even be able to play in Hack Tourneys except for the 4 courses we hackers are allowed to play on because I think there is a 90-second time limit for Tourneys too, right?  Also I tried the 'Closest to the Pin' challenges on 2 courses which we're not allowed to play on and I only hit 1 green and 1 fringe out of 18. :)  Be glad to play you a Hacker's round on any of the other 4 courses sometime if you're up for it?  But we are 7 hours time difference too though so we'd have to 'co-ordinate'.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but renting clubs, comes with a price tag and time limit. The time limit is however up to you, for additional credits of course. For instance, a driver that can be purchased for 35 credits may be rented for 1 day for 6 credits. As for meter speeds, if you place your mouse over the club it will list specifications and meter speed. In general the better the club, the faster the meter. Buying balls is basically a persons only option to slow the meter down to their liking.

    Hope it helps, happy hitting.

I noticed in an earlier post, that you wouldn't mind hitting the courses and have some help along the way. I know I'm not even close to the upper tier players but I'm never one to shy away from lending a hand.

    * Correction.... It appears the rental limit for clubs is only 1 day. I noticed the box and assumed a person could rent it for additional days. My mistake.

Regarding tourny play.... there is no shot clock.

    Starter Plus Full Set (L5+)

Equivalent to "Starter Plus Full Set".) A very forgiving club set with excellent feel and a slow swing meter designed specifically for newer players, all at a price that won't make you think twice. Set includes a driver, 3 fairway wood, 3 hybrid, and an iron set.

To buy this would cost you 99 credits but to rent it for a day is 15 credits.

Now what a day consists of I have no clue. My guess would be 24 hours but not sure.

    Hope this helps some.

Thanks, I accept your offer to lend a hand.  Does that mean you can share a dialogue 'in real time' with the person you're playing a Match with and is there a shot time limit?  As for clicking on the club to adjust meter speed, it just says "Swing" and there is nothing to show how to adjust 'meter speed'.  All I can see is the usual swing meter reading at the bottom of the screen and I don't think there is any way to 'adjust' that?

A lot of players here use Skype while playing. I for one can't. I've tried it and my meter is all over the place while it is running. The chat box would be our only option for dialogue. We could set up practice rounds and go from there, unfortunately the 90 second clock would still exist but it is only practice.

I must of misunderstood you about adjusting meter speed. To my knowledge there is absolutely no way for us the player, to manually adjust meter speed. The only way, again to the best of my knowledge, is to purchase or rent clubs with a meter that best suits your gameplay.

Heh Crabby-Rob, guess you chose not to read where I said, below? :)

"At the same time, I respect Free Enterprise and I congratulate the owners for creating this concept and now they're laughing all the way to the Bank. :)  Well done!"

Yes I also 'bolded and underlined' Your blunderous accusational oversight and that You think it's OK for You to whine about the things You dislike about WGT but I'm not allowed an opinion. :)  And you gotta be a real crabby person to whine about someone for using BOLD and underline fonts?

"Oh wait", care for some cheese with Your whine? :)

But maybe you're off your meds and feeling irritable? :)  Just kidding but You might try THINKING next time before attempting to start an argument with someone for doing the same thing You're doing? :)  Lighten up matey; it's just a "video game forum", not a UN debate on moral values and dialogue etiquette. :)  But there are hundreds of Forums on the Net where You can get into all kinds of meaningless arguments with humans and criticize everything under the sun and even use use swear words, if that's your cup of tea?

Did you try Reporting my posts to the WGT Staff?  If not, give it a shot.  Maybe they think like You do and will ban me so I can't have fun teasing people like you with humourously sarcastic mindless banter? :) Heh BTW, I couldn't see a COLOUR font to use in these witty forum chinwags.  Do you think I should complain to WGT about that too? :)

Okay why don't you email me and we'll set something up?  I don't have skype anyway.  I don't even have an Xbox. :)

Oldstir, My first question would be, why aim straight at pin if you have any kind of crosswind? But to answer your question, I am using Ping Rapture Irons and I have no problem getting within 15 ft, unless I have a serious mishit!LOL Also, With such stiff winds I usually use a punch shot with full backspin. I'm not sure this will work as well with the starter clubs, but it's worth a try. I use the punch shot alot on StA, and seems to give me better control of the wind. Hope this helps. Hit em long & straight oldstir and good luck!! edII

Hi, maybe you missed the premise of the topic from the beginning? :)  It is referring 'specifically' to using "Beginner's Clubs" and when the "Pin is closest to the front of the green".  Obviously you can't put backspin on Hacker's balls using Hacker's clubs.  That's the "premise" of the topic.

So crosswinds and backspin don't even enter into this scenario.  I defy anyone to stop the ball within 20 ft behind the pin under those conditions AND it is absolutely impossible to stop the ball in front of the pin under "those conditions" headwind or tailwind, unless you hit the Flagstick dead on and keep in mind the virtual ball is also going virtually about 30 mph too. :)  Not even the game's Programmer could do it.

It can possibly be done with Hacker's balls and clubs if by accident, the ball barely makes it over water after one or two bounces before the water and then it trickles up to the pin.  But nobody plays golf like that in real life or virtually.  That's just something a real-life Trickshot Artist could do.  Anyway, I get a kick out of trying to do the 'impossible' with beginner's clubs because it's actually just as frustrating for me as playing real golf but with more cursing, lower scores and it doesn't cost anything. :)

Albeit, perhaps I'm doing something wrong too with that scenario but I don't think so?  But maybe I'll get a lesson from someone sometime.  One thing I do like about this game is that every Course plays differently and nobody can birdie all 18 holes and I'm sure the guy that shot that 57 got awful lucky too. :)
