Hello all. It is my understanding that your average is calculated based on the best 10 of your last 14 rounds. But, what if all you ever play is 9 hole rounds? Does WGT combine two 9 hole rounds to come up with a score? Or what?

For example, my last 14 rounds, if you add two 9 hole rounds together, are:

    34 34 68
    32 35 67
    -- -- 72
    35 33 68
    34 34 68
    34 37 71
    -- -- 75
    36 35 71
    -- -- 71
    39 35 74
    -- -- 74
    34 36 70
    38 38 76
    -- -- 73

Take the best 10 and you get: 68,67,72,68,68,71,71,71,70,73

Add them up and get 699

699/10 = 69.9. My average is actually 67.93, so clearly this way of calculating average is not correct.

Can somebody please enlighten me as to how average is actually calculated?

I think they just double whatever you shot on the original nine you played.

I believe more recent rounds are "weighted" more than older rounds.

Is the list you posted newest down to oldest?

I'm not sure WGT has ever released the formula. I calculated your average...after rounding off, I came up with 67.93 which is what you are currently posting.  I took your 9 hole scores and doubled them, counted only the best 10 of the last 14 rounds then applied a weighted average to the top 3 scores and the top 10 scores as a whole.  It usually works but I have seen irregularities when some of the top 3 scores are the highest scores.  Any variance could be due to the algorithm, like 9 hole scores, when doubled, always produce an even number, a  certain number of rounds need to be played and where the 4 highest rounds fall into the sequence.

i dont know but i think it also has to do with your tier and then they work out a handicap for each tier!!

I just recently read a query on such and found a wonderful explanation from AvatarLee. I wrote on his wall and he replied with the exact numbers. Give him your last 14 rounds and I can imagine he will take the time to plug those into the formula and show you how your averages are computed.
