    I’m not sure that last is correct:  Champ to Tour Champ is lower than a 57 average.

    I’ve been lower than that for a long time and saturated, so I must have the 200 rounds, too.  I think one might need 55 avg for TC (at least for Flash version).  Maybe 56, but it sure isn’t 57.

    The consensus is that the averaged needed for Tour Champion is 55.00.

    ... and Champion saturation is @1,000 rounds, following 500 for Legends and 750 for TLs.

    I am not sure how the average system works here, but as a statistisician, I know that the greater the sample size, i.e. the number of rounds played increases, the less the average will move. It's like a baseball player's batting average. The more at bats the hitter gets, the harder it is to improve their average.

    JakeDrolinger, yes you would be correct under normal circumstances, but that is why WGT uses a Tier SATURATION as well. What this does is limits the number of ranked rounds that are used to calculate your AVG. The Saturation number depends on which tier you are trying to achieve.
    So in this example to go from Legend to Tour Legend you require a minimum of 500 Ranked Rounds (played as a Legend) and an AVG of 60 or less to tier up.
    If you have played 500 RR’s and are below a 60 AVG you would go to TL tier.
    If once you have played 500 RR’s your AVG is above 60 then what would happen then is that your AVG is now calculated using the BEST 500 RR’s at Legend. So any rounds played after 500 are only counted if they are lower than your current best 500, effectively knocking your worst score within your best 500 out of your AVG calc. So at this point you just have to get enough RR’s in your 500 best rounds to get below the 60 AVG

    If this was not done it would be almost impossible (or at least take infinitely longer) to get your AVG down to tier up.

    @MarchieB

    Jake's point, however, remains relevant and applicable. The reason is that the number of rounds needed for saturation increases as one goes up in tiers.

    That means players who were used to their average changing more quickly at lower tiers may become somewhat perplexed at it moving so little once they've been at Legend tier for a while.

    The other problem is that the game basically eliminates extreme outliers as well as having a fairly high floor. For most players, I would guess the floor is mid to high 20s for a 9-hole round. In other words, there's only so low a player can go, which also makes it difficult to lower one's average, especially on an N of 500 (saturation for Legend) or 750 (saturation for Tour Legend).

    Add 1,000 as the saturation no. for Champs!

    I call this root of perplexion "the law of the big number" - it's beyond our everyday thinking.

    Players are equally perplexed by rounding in the display of averages. This is limited to two digits on PC - visible difference being 1/100, while the number may move by 1/500, 1/750 or 1/1000, in the third and fourth digit. Thus, "59.00" might be 59.0043 and NOT permit promotion to Champ tier.
