In our CC we have a ladder going on to see who will be the CC Champion. We played a 4 man match last night and 3 of us tied. the problem is that we all have a different view of who should be 2nd 3rd and 4th. The WGT rules did not seen to answer this one everyone's satisfaction. I am asking for some help in deciding the standings because the looser of the match must report a loss to everyone tin front of him etc.

This interpretation is going by the last 6 holes of the round.

Thanks for any help in this matter.

    I believe you are correct.

    How are ties handled?

In the event of a tie, the better scoring entrant between or among the tied entrants will be the entrant with the lowest combined score for the final nine (9) holes of the Game. If any ties remain, the better scoring entrant between or among the remaining tied entrants will be the entrant with the lowest combined score for the final six (6) holes for such Game.

If any ties remain, the better scoring entrant between or among the remaining tied entrants will be the entrant with the lowest combined score for the final three (3) holes for such Game. If any ties remain, the better scoring entrant between or among the remaining tied entrants will be the entrant with the lowest score for the 18th  hole (9th for nine hole games)  in such Game, and any remaining ties will be determined by identifying the lowest scoring entrant for each individual game hole, in sequence from 17th (8th for nine hole games) through to 1st, as is necessary to determine a winner, and if any ties remain at that point, the earlier-submitted entry between or among the tied entries will be deemed the better scoring entry.

If multiple people tie for a place, the percentages for those places will be added up and divided by the number of people who tied for the place. For example, if three people tie for 2nd place, the percentages for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place will be totaled up and divided by three. Each player would receive the same amount. 5th place will then get the correct 5th place percentage.

    Cheers

Maybe you could have your own CC rule about it, taking WGT's way a step further. Play the scores backwards and score them match style. In your example Jay would be out immediately with a par vs. 2 birdies. Next, captain would be out because of the bogey which would leave (horrors) you as the winner.

It might not fly this time but you could have it for future ties.  :-)

*edit-in re-reading the rule above I think it already does it this way.

The way it is usually done is last six, if still tied, last 3 holes

Sudden death playoff.  Dont let the numbers do the work for you, play it down to the wire in a playoff.  I dont like doing it the work backwards format, it basically negates any hardwork someone did for turning around a round or having that one off hole.
