I've heard and seen this lately. One guy said he carries 2 drivers(R9 8.5 and Ping Rapture). I've seen in some guys bags they carry 3 wedges(2 upgraded and a cheapy). The drivers I pretty much understand, but the wedges I haven't quite gotten yet. So my question is, why do you guys carry 3 wedges?? What advantage does it give you?? I noticed Tibbets carries 3 wedges. If you read this and since your one of the top players, would you explain this please??  It's just a guess, but I'm thinking the cheap wedge is for distance. It's around 50 yards or so.

                                            Thanks you!!

Yeah me too! i saw that same person, but i dont remember who it was. That probably means that clubs they have equipped there were...

    Drivers-2

    Irons-8

    putter-1

    3-wedges

    =14 clubs (as restricted)...

But why would you want 2 drivers to be equipped at the same time??? Drivers cant hit off the fairway. If they did, then i understand. But i dont get it why they have 2 drivers?? WHY?!

the hard to hit driver when your trying to catch up or on a far par 4. play the raptuer to be safe. the irons they use are good enough so the dont need a 3 wood or hybrid and the weges are for short game with pin point accuracy. the guys at the top of the leader board do this because they actually play each other in lader matchs.

Yeah I haven't seen anyone have 2 drivers and 3 wedges at the same time. I dunno if your able to substitute other clubs for any of the iron set. Never seen that.

Carrying 2 drivers makes perfect sense, as explained above. I'd carry 2 of them, too, if we could have 15 clubs in our bag. The 2-drivers specialist is HBThree, and he's been very successful with this strategy.

As to the 3 wedges, you're right about the cheap wedge being used for close distances of about 55 yds. There's currently no advanced wedge for short distances. So, I for one carry 2 wedges of the 60° caliber, because the more advanced one of the two covers the same distance as the cheap 54° wedge, so there's no large yardage gap left to the PW of the iron set.

Carrying 2 drivers makes no sence what so ever.Any body know of any real pro's that do it ? I compensate an extra wedge in my bag for the sake of the hybrid club......

I normally carry 2 drivers (R9 and Rapture) on BB hitting from the back tees. I do this because there are some holes that with a shorter drive you cant seem to reach the greens or hold them. On Kiawah I carry the Rapture only, but add an extra 3 wood (starter and rapture) this covers the gap nicely between my 3 iron (190 yds)  and the Rapture (245 yds). I also carry 3 wedges (65yds, 85 yds, and 100 yds). It really all comes down to the  course and the set up (for me anyway) when I decide which clubs to carry.

Personally I carry 1 driver, 1 3 wood, 1 54 degree, and 2 60's.  Logic is that you might only use a hybrid once per round, but having a 60 degree that is only 60 yards saves many strokes on the course and I use it almost every time I miss a green.  The short 60 degree requires a larger swing from short distances than say an 75-85yd 60 degree wedge, therefore it has a higher trajectory, stops much more quickly, and allows a much higher level of distance control.  In my real golf bag I carry a 52, 56, and a 60.  At least 1/2 of the pros on the PGA carry a PW, Gap Wedge, SW, and lob as well.  You should find a substantial decrease in greenside bogeys with a similar set up.  Why carry a hybrid for 1-2 shots on the course when there is a potential on every hole to miss the green and have to scramble to save par?  BOGEYS kill!

As for 2 drivers, I'm not quite sold on that.  It seems a person could use their 3 wood for a tight fairway they need to hit and still have the versatility to use it in other circumstances on the course, like reaching certain par 5's in 2 shots or the absurding long par 4 at BPB (#7 i think) in regulation.

    Hope this helps.  Good luck!

It makes perfect sense in the context of this game, as has been explained repeatedly. The difference between the risk-levels of the R9 drivers and the Rapture driver is dramatic; that's why it's a good idea to be carrying the Rapture driver around for situations when you absolutely can't afford to misfire a drive. I have already beaten many a player, technically better than myself, thanks to his misfiring his drive on a single hole; that is often enough to sink that player in a game with myself if I manage to score 100% Fairways Hit with my Rapture driver, and I usually manage to do so.

This game is not an absolute reflection of how things are in reality, cobra4. For example, in real life I can buy any club I want, as long as I pay for it. In this game, you have entire "Master-only" club sets.

I carry 3 wedges. Unless you have a huge gap from 3i to 3w...for example a 190 yd rapture 3i, to a G10 master 3w at 235 yds you will probably benefit more from the wedge than a hybrid or 2nd 3w. A situation may arise 1-2 times tops per round where you have to take something off a 3w.  Most holes however you will have an approach somewhere from 40-120 yds into the green.  If you carry and extra wedge, and get familiar w/ punch shot you have all these yardage options for hitting a full shot...(will vary depending on which wedges you have, this is mine)

45 / 55 / 62 / 75 / 80 / 98 / 106 / 121 / 122.  That is huge because you are always hitting at least a 90% full shot making it very easy to guage your distance within 1-2 yds, leading to lots of birdies.  Also it is nice for greenside shots having a full array of yardages to choose from for chip/pitch/flop shots.
