You don't necessarily need 2 wedges. You can also play with 1 wedge, or 3 wedges.
I currently have 3 TaylorMade wedges in my bag: 56-degree, 60-degree, and 64-degree. That nicely covers all distances from 93 yards below, the default full-swing distances for those 3 wedges being 93, 77, and 50 yards. In fact, I also use the Rapture Pro club-set, where the "lowest-hitting" club, with the default distance of 110 yards, is PW = pitching wedge, so you might say I'm actually playing with 4 wedges.
