If Mike was 3up then it would have been either 3&2 (meaning 3 shots up with only 2 holes left to play), or possibly 3&1 if he was 2up on the 8th tee and won the 8th hole (to make it 3 shots up with only 1 hole left to play). However, a win is a win, the score doesn't really matter.
