The match was back-and-forth pretty much the whole round...
Doug went 1UP on the 3rd before I squared the match on the 4th when his 2nd did something I've never seen before, hit in the brush on the front side of the green and then bounded through to the bunker on the back.
Doug went 1UP on 6 and then 2UP on 9.
I pulled it back to a one-hole lead on 11, before he retook the 2 hole advantage on 14. Holes starting to run out on me...
15 - I pull it to Doug 1UP.
16 - I square the match.
17 - Doug regains his 1UP lead when my birdie attempt slides by.
18 - Headwind...no chance to get home in two, so I figure the only chance I have is if Doug somehow makes a mistake...3rd shots - Doug hits his to 10 feet and I hit mine to about 3 feet. I have an opening...his birdie slides by and I square the match and we move to extra holes.
First extra - safe pars as it is tough to do anything else on the first at Chambers.
Second extra - should have ended it here as his 2nd ran 11' past the hole and mine was about 6 feet away. He missed his and my lipped out (one of several robberies I had in this round...if anybody finds my wallet at Chambers, I was robbed multiple times).
Third extra - Cross wind from the right 17-19...I played what I thought was going to be a perfect shot....but the wind caught it just enough and it juuuuuuuuust caught the ridge and rolled to around 34 feet away. Doug gets up....heartbeat...I'm doomed, I think...but it ended up being a fringe heartbeat as he was 10 feet away. I catch a break as my putt is mostly straight....and BOOM ... center cut for the bird. Doug's attempt to send the match to another hole just misses, giving me the 1UP win.
