was in California a few years back and visited Pebble Beach. While there someone in pro shop said that we could go to driving range and hit some balls with their clubs. We loaded into a van and made the short trip to the driving range and hit some balls. The guy that was there at range asked us if we saw Arnold Palmer at clubhouse and we said no. He said that he teed off around 11am and that we may catch him before he was through. We went back to the course and started walking from #18. We got to the 17th tee box and saw he and a friend coming down 16th fairway. each of them had a caddy and a cart. When they got to 17 i introduced myself and asked Mr. Palmer if i could get a picture with him. He was very nice and said sure you can. I introduced my wife and 4 others that were with me and then took the picture. I went to Augusta the next year hoping to get him to autograph it but didn't get to do that and the next year he passed away. What a great person he was and am sure he is missed by everyone who ever came into contact with him.

    Thank you

Yancy, like you said there are a million Arnold stories and here's mine. I'll try to be as concise as possible. In1985 i was working in the bag room of a local course here in Fl. Arnie was playing an exhibition with our director of golf and two local pros. An attractive female member around Arnolds' age begged me to drive her out to the hole they were on as she was desperate to meet Arnold. When we arrived, i think they were on the 15th hole which is a par three. Obviously there was a fairly sizeable crowd following the foursome, and everyone turned to see what wasgoing on as we drove up. The director of golf quitely asked me what was going on? I explained the members persuasivenes in begging me to bring her out(he was quite familiar, with this himself) so he sort of nodded, but was clearly unhappy. The entire time Arnie was taking this all in with that rye little smile of his on his face as he knew exactly what was going on,as i'm sure this sort of thing happened to him all the time! The member brushed brushed all this aside and marched up and introduced herself to Arnold.           Arnold, came over to me and introduced himself, shock my hand, while the players were hitting. I explained to him i was powerless in this situation he chuckled and said he understood. I was dispatched back to the cart barn with only myself in the cart. What a great guy Arnie was, totally understand why he had an army!
