We have rebuilt a dormant WGT club that a group of us reversed into following the death of the owner at our old club having discovered that if the owner dies 'in harness' then WGT won't let anyone else take over and the club is therefore sentenced to die a slow zombie death which seems idiotic as we all spent loads of time and credits to take the club from level 5 to level 19. TYBR has just reached level 19 with roughly a hundred regular players...
All members are encouraged to create whatever tournaments they want to play. We have 10 to 15 ongoing tournaments at all times with a mixture of free to enter stroke play, bracket and CTTH tournaments and a 500 credit purse (donated by a group of the top players in turn) championship once a week. I like to play on uneven lies and with the set of the week so I set tournaments up to suit myself which a few of the better (or more jaded) players play in as well and we set a nominal 25 credit entry fee as WGT requires a fee to play set of the week for some reason.
We have come up with a very simple handicap system and a weekly handicapped tournament to try and level the playing field between the outrageously good players and the rest of the club so that everyone feels that they have a chance of winning something! We have the Telegram club voice app as some players like to chat to each other while they play which personally I find rather bizarre but each to their own...
We play in the Turf Wars and endeavour to get into the top 50 of the Club Clashes driven by a regular turn out of around 50 keen'ish Clash players.
Other than that we just ask players to play regularly as we prune players that haven't played for a month but they are always welcome to re-join if they rediscover the joys of playing WGT again at a later date...
If this sounds like your kind of Club then give us a try...
Cheers!
