In real golf, you are allowed to use adjoining fairway.....out of bounds is usually on the outside borders of the course.

Heh-In this historic bit of weirdness known as SA where you have 2 holes using the same green and sharing adjoining fairways you have to expect some weird boundaries. JMO.

Just a note .. in real golf you MAY be able to use adjoining fairways .. on many course there are white "out of bounds" markers on holes to prevent folks from playing up an adjoining fairway to the green.

Many golf courses have boundaries within the course to protect golfers, etc. You can have out of bounds anywhere if the course is set up that way. Most of the time those are local rules and for USGA tournaments the out of bounds within the course are taken out, but not always. At St Andrews, I don't recall any boundries that exist within the interior of the course like #7.
