You don't necessarily need 2 wedges. You can also play with 1 wedge, or 3 wedges.

I currently have 3 TaylorMade wedges in my bag: 56-degree, 60-degree, and 64-degree. That nicely covers all distances from 93 yards below, the default full-swing distances for those 3 wedges being 93, 77, and 50 yards.    In fact, I also use the Rapture Pro club-set, where the "lowest-hitting" club, with the default distance of 110 yards, is PW = pitching wedge, so you might say I'm actually playing with 4 wedges.

You need to close the gap between your wedges as well as you can.  The gap between them kills you.

Not when you start using punch and pitch shots, mapping them in practice. For instance, the Satin 77w punches 63 and you can squeeze 80-85 out of it with topspin and SD balls. One club can handle a fairly wide range if you play it right.

Look at the yardage of your individual clubs from your 3 down to your lowest wedge and look at the difference in each "step" down. Ideally you would have 10-12 yds or so between each club to allow you to cover any situation you come upon.  As an example here's how my clubs lay out.........  210  197  185  172  160  147  135  122  110  90  77  50.  The 110 wedge covers 100 easily and the 77 wedge punches 63.

Which clubs do you take out of your bag to use the wedge?  I have the Rapture pro as well and feel I need 1 wedge betwteen 110 and 60- but not sure what club to drop/sell.  Thanks

Most people will drop the utility wood to make room for a 3rd wedge.   Some swear by the utility wood and drop their 3 wood.

It's really up to your own personal taste and playing style which determines which wood you drop for a third wedge.

I personally dropped the utility wood, so I have a driver, 3 wood, irons, and 3 wedges.   Check out my profile to see the setup I have.   I also recommend perhaps checking out other players' profiles (preferably with similar clubs as you) to see what decision they made.
