When around the green, the chipping function is brutual. The ball will travel a few inches and it appears extremely large divots are taken as though the shots are chunked.
I would suggest not using chip shot if off the green more then a few feet. Try a pitch, flop or full shot.

Chipping is WGT's way of saying stock clubs suck..chipping works better with solid clubs you will get later...for now only chip when on the fringe or within say maybe a foot of the green..
If you are more than 2 yards from the green never, ever, ever use chip. This is a golden rule I live by. Make sure you have read the Chipping and Putting thread under game tips as well.
