As a new golfer trying to advance to the pro tier, I'm having a lot of trouble getting out of bunkers. If I hit it hard enough to get out, the ball goes, in most cases, to the other side of the green. If I hit it softer, I can't get out of the bunker.

Can anyone offer some tips on what I'm doing wrong?

Your best bet is to learn the "flop" shot....always aim about 6-8 feet left of the pin, unless conditions dictate otherwise...HB3

Thanks - I'll try that. That's the shot that is keeping me from moving up.

The pitch also works well if there isn't a high bunker wall in your way.

Thanks to both of you - this morning I  played my best 2 rounds ever at BP and advanced to the Pro tier.
