This same conversation went round and round back in 2009 over Bethpage #7 being a par 4 instead of a par 5 like it is for the members. In another year WGT will likely have longer iron sets and longer 3 woods, so before long, people will have forgotten this conversation.

Enjoy it while it's still a challenge and before they make it a pitch and putt ....

The difference is that BPB was quite a perfect copy of the 2009 tournament, including that change on #7 and the shorter Champions' tee on #15 which is documented online from the USO.

Here, the deviations to the tournament settings and the general scorecard are evident.

Investigating deeper, I found some possible source for this.

A scorecard from 2011 shows a limited but significant difference to the 2014 scorecard (pdf):

Between #4 and #5, the Pars and HCP are interchanged + lengths adapted. WGT's setting are a mixture of these, resulting in #4 being a 569 yds Par4, HCP 15(!).

=> They may have been surprised by those changes and only done a minimum to follow.

Furtheron, the new scorecard shows three different Par settings between the tees, compare holes 4, 5 and 8, and WGT supports only one, AFAIK. Alas, this doesn't explain other length deviations from the shorter tees, notably on holes #10 and #14.

It's still a mess, and apparently good enough for "the best online golf game".

It is a known fact that the championship designated hole 4 a par 4.......... teebox set at 529yards. at Pinehurt No.2 Golf Course.

WGT designers didn't get the Memo.

They need to have this acronym pasted ,tattooed and memo-ed...................

    Opps ...

    Too late

    However ,It's a done deal

    DONE.

    Quit crying about it

    Move on

    LMAO! Don.

UNTIL somebody comes along and gives mouth-to-mouth to this thread, 2 years from now.

The hole is a very easy 4 to be honest. If you have it downwind right to left, 4 is not the hardest birdie hole on the course (I think 16 is a harder birdie due to the severity of the slope where the pin is. In fact, I narrowly missed an eagle in the virtual tour final round)

I would say 17 at St Andrews is a far tougher hole from the  legend tee box, heavy wind against.  . You are left with an easy 3rd if you can't make the green on Pinehirst 4

And you're left with an even easier third on #17 St. Andrews ... and an easier green to putt on.
