Grrrrr, in the real world you'd have your behinds spanked for this for false advertising.

Got a mail this morning from WGT, "Free PING driver". Very nice i thought, until i was reading further on, "Buy $20 of WGT credits and get a FREE Ping driver".

It's not free then is it? Exceedingly misleading and exceedingly false advertising

Alright Ralph Nader, you need to learn what is and is not false advertising. Maybe in Sweden's socialists democracy that might be true but there is nothing false or misleading here.  You buy 2000 credits they give you a driver free. If it were not free they would deduct the cost from the 2000 credits. It's called creative advertising!

Capitalism is boss, were right, there wrong, end of story!

Welcome to America. Last month I got so many free things, but my bank balance is exhausted.

You clearly misunderstand the what the word "free" means then. Free means thank you very much, it didn't cost me anything. You can't advertise something saying it's for free and then further down craftily mention it's not actually free because you have to pay $20 bucks for it.. It's utter crap and as mentioned already, misleading.

No, it's not called creative advertising. It's called lying.

If something is free, it is free. Period. If you pay for something, it is by definition not free.

So you buy $20 US worth of credits.... and get a driver given to you by WGT..... and you still have 2000 credits (your $20) to spend on anything you want.... so how much did your driver actually cost you?   hmmmmm... nothing false about this one.

It may or may not be considered misleading in some countries, but it's pretty standard practice in America.

I'm guessing it had an asterisk on the advertisement, saying in small print below "with purchase of 2,000 credits."

In fact, here is the advertisement that I got in my email:

Free Legend Golf Balls for Ryder Cup Weekend

Buy $20 in WGT Credits and get 3 free WGT Legend GI-SD2 virtual golf balls

    * One time offer for Legend players only for purchases of $20 or more WGT Credits thru Monday, October 4th.
