All you need to know about the punch shot is, play it as often as you can from 100 yards in.

The punch shot from any yardage at times can be very beneficial to your score. I punch a 3 wood as often as any other club. JMO

but now i can't find it.

I believe the man was asking how to look up specific threads on the forum, not for advice (although probably welcome) on the shot.  War, I'd be happy to tell you how but I don't know either.

I use the punch shot on maybe .1% of my shots.

    It simply isn't necessary, imo.

If you're not punching an average of 4+ times per 18, you are not playing the game properly, imo.

I don't really see the benefit of hitting a 97-100% power punch shot in lieu of a 90-95% full shot.

What's wrong with a 90-95% iron shot?  It's going to roll more than it usually does?  Isn't that exactly what a punch shot does too?

Sorry, but what's the benefit of punching?  I honestly don't get it... lol.

There's nothing wrong with hitting full shots.  But if I'm 60 out, and know my 62 punch with backspin will go 60 yards, its a hell of a lot easier than choking down a ton on a full 75 yarder.  Same thing for anything 30-41 yards, its much easier (imo) to choke down 0-20% on a 41 punch than choking down a ton on a full 50 yard.  I personally am forced to use it more than most due to a 90-115 gap in full shots, so I go to 98 punch when possible.

Some holes simply receive a lower trajectory punch shot better than an abrupt stopping full shot.  Also as mentioned earlier, punching 3w is very often your best bet from rough.  All in all, many many many opportunities to use the punch shot (many not listed, where you have to think outside the box and experiment).

lol... ok... I'll definitely try to hit a punch with my 50 yarder next time I have a 25-yrd shot or something close to being too short for the 50 yarder.

As far as answering the OP's question goes, here is the recent thread on the punch shot: http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/18529.aspx

    Here are some others: http://www.wgt.com/forums/p/3439/16726.aspx , http://www.wgt.com/forums/p/14142/86801.aspx , etc.
