  Newbie question,

  Even when I hit the green I'm never allowed to putt.When I hit continue I'm always somewhere else.The game won't let me finish a hole properly and then move onto the next in order.

   it's because you are playing one of the closest -to-the- hole challenges. that's just 9 shots into 9 different greens... with no putts.

   Click on PLAY NOW , then eeither the TOURNAMENTS tab and click stroke play ... or click to join/create a group or play single play, but be sure to choose stroke play.
