    Hey Canadadry...

I posted the record 61 with clubs that are available in this pro-shop!!!  And elis2008... well ya... would you try to qualify for the real thing with a set of Wal-mart clubs?  I think not, if you were that serious you'd spend the dime to get the best gear available for you.  And no that doesn't mean that you need to buy the most expensive stuff either!

throw a little backspin on it with tailwind too, gets it up higher so the wind carries it further, and the added height also carries it further

I think my longest drive is like 278 and it was on Kiawah hole 3 believe it or not

    Hi All,

If you're going to get clubs get the tour starter set + the new R9 driver. Lets be honest - Its not really that expensive.  Thats all you really need. My best at BPB +2 (72)

The R9 driver will give you more distance off the tee for sure. My best with it - about 264. But surprise surprise - you'll need to practice with it.

Watching the real thing the other day - some of the pro's were only just getting on the fairways at those long par4's. One comment that was made that I thought summed it all up - " These guys are wearing out their 3Hybrids and long irons " yeh - there were a lot of long iron plays.

    Just my 2bobs worth

    Cheers Doug

I'm using a PingG10 driver and with a tail wind the other day I hit a 280 yard drive on #10 at Kaiwah.  There are lots of different things to try to get more distance on your drive.  One is to add topspin, especially when you are hitting into the wind.  With a good 10-15 mph wind in my face I still drive it close to 225-230.....  When you have a 20+mph behind you another trick is to add back spin because it lofts your ball higher and you use the wind more.  I would say hit a punch shot into the wind but that takes 20-30 yards off the drive distance to start.  I made that error one time at #10 on bethpage black, so don't ever try it....  Just remember topspin.....  use the wind when you can.....  and you're drive distance will improve....  as of now I'm averaging 231

Yup my 277 yard drive was done with a 20mph+ tail wind, full backspin and landed on a downslope. Oh, and the R9 driver helped too  :)

Heck yes!  I had a 312 yard drive.  I ricocheted it off an ocean wave at Kiawah.  Just kidding.
