How about the Ping G25 3 Fairway Wood.  Never used it myself but might be worth trying if a free rental period comes along anytime soon. The difference on paper between it and the R11s doesn't seem that great.

I actually already own the Ping G20 3 wood. Its not necessarily a bad club, but it seems like I'm always struggling to hit the dinger. I doubt if switching to the faster meter of the R15 would help with that, but another thing I don't like about the Ping is it seems like the forgiveness is much less than advertised, and possibly the new Taylor Made could help there. If I bought the G25 now, it would be little more than a 745 credit graphics update lol.

Thanks for the updated tables Scott.  It helps quite a bit when comparing everything.

I've had the Ping G20 L81 240 3W or quite some time now.  I almost never use it.

    ITS COMPLETELY USELESS.

    And always has been.

The stated performance values of this club were never met.

I always  remember this before buying gear.

    An after thought...

I rented an iron set once to see how the clubs performed.

In rental they were terrific. As I've found is often the case in rental.

However ...  After purchasing ...  I never hit another ding.

That was when I was "pullinup"  started June 2008

The irons were ping steel shaft but I don't recall what level.

So remembering this I don't put much stock in rental performance, and rarely rent.

That said there are also clubs that have performed to expectations and more.

The original Ping 230 3W and the Rossa L55 putter are prime examples.

The ping G20 steel L59 irons also have enabled me to remain competitive for a long time.

However currently I don't see a iron set with a performance level available to me L95 that I consider to be long term value.

I on the other hand have that Ping G25 lvl 81 3W and am very happy with it. i compared it with the Cally X2Hot  3W AT LVL 73, during the Masters free rental weekend.  I found the performance was almost identical, with the Ping actually out performing the X2Hot slightly.  And at 1/2 price.

Each of us has a different feel for clubs and a different way of playing the game.  Bottom line is seek advice, but find what works for you.
