I play the Virtual Skipper game on line and enjoy being a member on the "Team Speak" network which allows any number of players to speak to each other in real time via the internet. Obviously you must be equipped with either a headset with microphone or separate microphone and loudspeakers so that you may communicate to the other players.
For this World Golf Tour game separate channels so that each group of four players may talk to each other would be the go. Does anyone here think that this would be a good idea?
I play golf as "CaptainBit" see you on the tee.

This is not true. It runs in the background and has zero affect on the game.

YJ has it right.  We run Skype all the time.

Skype in AUDIO ONLY, though.  Video is the resource killer in my experience.
