This was when I remembered Gandhi and Dr. King.

Just a foot note about Gandhi. Although remembered for his protest through pacifist tactics, he was by no means a 'Saint".

Like most past history, his has been edited, to mostly include his nonviolent approach to protesting. As a very knowledgeable person, that likes to read, you may want to have a look at this.

Much of which never entered into the complete history of Gandhi, for pure mind control of the masses.

I thank you for the acknowledgement of my entry.

The military force on campus in Ohio were reservists.  Had they been an active duty unit i believe the casualty count would have been much higher, be that right or wrong, does not matter.  the fact it took place is what was the important thing.  my nickle.

Never necessary for me Lee. Your generation will never be irrelevant to the likes of me.  Your generation wrote the book on civil control, literally. Enforcing it flawlessly when needed.

Come to think of it, they wrote the rest of the books as well, along with the correct version of world history also. Code of conduct as well. Remember when there was no need of discussion of the code of conduct? It was a simple look from your Mother, or Father.

Where is Sheriff Andy Taylor, when you need him, in a world of Barney Fifes, flying off the handle over nothing? I believe it was not a NY location that it was based on, if memory serves... Must have been a reason it was set in the SOUTH!

    I miss Mayberry RFD

You crack me up. Hope you are well, long into the future

Here are my thoughts on this, for whatever they are worth. As the divide between the "haves" and the "have nots" continues to grow, regardless of race , color, or creed, we are going to see more and more of these instances. In my opinion, there are simply too many people competing for limited resources. I have no answer, I merely state fact. Conflict is inevitable given the current state of affairs. When most people have the opportunity to work, here in the US, they take pride in that. Yet,that window has been closed to too many of us under "Free" trade agreements Washington has put in place. A s a second generation businessman, who told his kids to find work elsewhere, I hope this can turn around.

I won't discuss anything with neo-nazees*, white supremacists, or the KKK, unless they're asking for directions to Argentina, or better yet, hell.

    * Evidently the correct spelling is prohibited.

(other part of post deleted in the spirit of the Andyson Memorial tourney and SlicedPepper's gift of the medal proudly displayed on my profile)

    + 1

On a totally unrelated subject though, as long as the idiot is giving a not really that hidden thumbs up to half of his Breitbart and Fox brainwashed base from press conferences, there's not much chance of things calming down.

Some ideas should've never been allowed in the 1st place. Not many countries in the world would allow the neo ***, KKK and the others to congregate, let alone hold a rally. Nazi simbols are forbidden in many, many countries and people, who are promoting that twisted line of thought can be thrown in jail for promoting it. And rightfully so.

Some things simply should've been eradicated a long time ago, eff the so called free speech, some lines have to be drawn.

A quick question to religious people, who are using the words socialism and communism as swear words. Y'all realise, that these 2 theories are by far the closest to J.C. teachings, right? And that capitalism, slavery and any kind of supremacy are the things he loathed the most. Right?

Unfortunately, all of the above were only good theories and ideas, completely effed up by people. While J.C. and Marx would've probably been very good friends, as long as they never discussed their parents ;-)

There's a brilliant employment rate in the US, so that should be no problem. I only wonder why Mar-A-Lago had to ask for temporary foreign workers?

Dow Jones at 21,000+, business in general seems to thrive - maybe you'd have to adapt your range of goods? Or are you on the wrong side of the homegrown rising income gap?

Employment rates get counted in strange ways..............Many western countries are now fine if you are a well paid lawyer.

If you are trying to manufacture or buy a house as say a bus driver it's very hard.  Growing up in London (UK) a bus driver could aspire to own their own home, now that dream is impossible for an ordinary teacher..............

The great depression was post industrial revolution, and this one is post globilisation.  Somehow capitalism needs another correction, but I do not believe the answer is going left.  One look at history tells me that is bad. (edit: we all accept some socialism as needed such as police, health etc but the degree that way is obviously the issue)

    As for freedom of speech:

No matter how abhorrent I may find a view the right to express that view I believe must be upheld.

Flag waving is part of free speech.

The people waving the WW2 extreme right flags were a disgrace to all.  They insulted their countrymen who died so they could do it, and they should hang their heads in shame.

Maybe they would if not so dumb they can't read a paper on history and what happened in that thing called WW2.

The extreme left are equally a bunch of nutjobs who seem to have no understanding of what they have or how much they have, and how much that cost.

Presumably their incapability of taking in news from more than a one line Twitter feeds precludes them from understanding N Korea might not be all they are told it is.

What should have happened is that the two groups never got to meet.  There was the stuff up and that part was both predictable and easily actionable.

Taking down the statue(s) is almost a separate issue.  It was voted on and no one has the righto use violence to go against that.  IMO I would say think long and hard before taking too many more down.  In my country, 1066 is a very famous date.  Like it or loathe it William the Conqueror changed everything forever.  The Vikings finally ruled even if called Normans by then...........Bomber Harris took down Hamburg and for why when it was against that far right party, but overall his statue commemorates a great cause even if the destruction of innocents is awful.

Point is how far does all this go?

America is a fantastic country with freedoms most still can only dream about.  I would say celebrate where it is now, and let these things show how it got there.  Polarising every very extreme inbred sheep for the next ten years won't help.  For America to work through, but I have my view:)

Statistics, as you well know, alosso, can be misleading. Personally, I'm one of the dinosaurs that used to make up the "middle class". Just because a U.S. business is doing well on Wall Street doesn't mean that money goes to American workers, or even stays in this country. What i was referring to was the growing gap between the rich and the poor of this country. Malcontents are much more likely to vent their frustrations on their fellow citizens than are those who are contemplating what champagne to have with their caviar.
