As we all know when we play St. Andrews, there's always strong winds. I was wondering because I just wing it, but what is the best way to apprach your second shot with winds east/west at 15-20 mph ? Should you go up a club or down a club ?

It depends on your clubs. Higher lofted clubs are going to be more susceptible to wind while the lower trajectory ones tend to bore through it. Try your punch shots from out there and see how the wind tends to affect that shot less. Top spin helps push through the wind and gives roll out at the end. There are many ways to deal with that wind, you just need to get the "feel" of what works for you.

    Btw-I totally wing it-have since day 1.  :-)
