How to spoil a good thread in 1 step...

    1. Talk politics.

Good point Snaike.  I can't remember who first slipped in a strongly worded political comment.  I apologize if it was me.

So back on topic.  Who here has 5-putted in real life?  I can personally lay claim to a 4-putt on a par 5 that I reached in two.  From 23'!

I can go one better (or worse, depending on your point of view)

Par 4, 325 dogleg left...  Cut the corner with the perfect shot, just over the trees and drawing nicely into the green (sloping slightly back to front)... rolled up nice and snuggy at 10'!

Wow!  A 10 foot eagle putt!  Too cool!!!

Walked off with a bogey. $20 lighter in the pocket, and am still, to this day, reminded of that sequence of events.   /shudder

Sweet!  It's that kind of stuff that keeps us humble.  And real.

P.S. - My real life 4-putt from 23 feet was just my second ever and was last September.  I think the grid on the green was red with the dots moving right, but it looked blue to me, so I charged the eagle putt and ended up 8' past the cup.  Made sure the next, uphill shot, had enough ooomph, and zipped 3 feet past the hole.  Then Tiger Woods'd that one, totally deflated.
