    A response from WGT
    17 Mar 2010 at 3:21 PM

    Hi Snaike,

I've deleted your recent forum post about our removal of the material on your profile page.  Regardless of your feelings towards this WGT player, we don't want posts that single out and antagonize other players in our forums.  Nor do we want content of that kind on users' profile pages.  We have been keeping an eye on your profile page since you put up the inappropriate profile picture.  We took it down, and in knowing violation of our rules, you tried to put it back up and posted a workaround that allowed other players to see it.

I was not able to find the June 8, 2009 blog post to which you referred.  If it was offensive, I apologize that we did not take actions to remove it.

Please refrain from antagonizing other players in the forums and on your profile, as this may lead to the moderation and/or banning of your WGT account. Thanks for understanding, and we hope you are able participate in a more constructive manner.

    Thanks,
    WGT

    Hypocrisy at best....
    17 Mar 2010 at 1:45 AM

WGT, in it's quest to appease and mollify one single, solitary individual has again cleaned my profile page of any writings, icons, wall posts from friends, etc that may or may not refer to one individual in particular.  This was done without communication to me from WGT at any time to inform me that these were inappropriate.

This is fine... After all, it's WGT's website.  They can come and go as they please, right?  Apparently, they have control over all communications, etc, for the betterment of this society as a whole.

Basically, we get to say what they will allow.  And we don't get to say anything they won't allow.  Simple enough.  For example, no one is allowed to get on here and badmouth any WGT staff (well, at least not for long anyway).  Posts like that have a shelf life of about an hour.... Maybe less, now that we have full time forum moderations.

But these weren't forum posts.  The purged material was on my profile page.  Someone had to have alerted WGT to this and then some WGT'er had to make the decision that they were innappropriate.  So, they lasted longer than one hour.  They were there for a couple weeks on average.

Again... WGT's site.  Their choice.  I'm not happy with it, but what is there to do?  One person is offended and they have to come down on my profile page with heavy jackboot tactics.

    Fine.

The shame of it all is that the same considerations and concern are not given the other way around.  The shame is the hypocrisy of WGT when it comes to protecting ~other~ members.  They are cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Example;  Some time ago, an angry young man wrote a long paragraph in which the avatar known as 'Snaike" was raked over the coals on the forums and his blogs.  The obloquies and invectives were fairly thick and vehement.  While not very pleasant, it did not ruin my day.  I deleted the copy that my new friend had posted to my wall and, iirc, the forum posts were down within 24 hours.

The blog entry, on his profile, remained.  I had noticed this and had written an email to WGT informing them of this blog entry.  (And the fact that I was certain this individual was a multiple.)

No response from WGT.  The blog is still there.  The email (of which I have a copy) was dated June 9, 2009.  The blog date is the day before.

Again, TO THIS DAY that blog entry is still there.  No one has purged this players profile, yet mine, after about a week, gets cleaned.

    This hypocrisy is mind-boggling.

Why am I not given the same consideration as this one other?  What makes him so special to WGT?  Why is he protected from reading the truth?  He knows we are laughing at him, yet WGT has to go out of their way to make sure that he can't wander into any profile that might 'offend' him.

Blatant favoritism and incomprehensible hypocrisy are the rulers of the here and now.

    It's sad, really.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.
    08 Nov 2009 at 12:57 AM

Ladies and gentlemen, friends and foes alike... I am leaving a short message here to let those who care ( and those who would get immense joy, otherwise ) know that no, I have not been banned.

I am taking a bit of a leave... I am completely fed up and disgusted... and instead of trying to force a change on something I can't, I will allow a change on something I can.

Because of the complete lack of forum moderation ( ie, letting drunken, profanity laced ramblings stand for more than 5 minutes while innocent, subtlely humourous threads are removed almost immediately) this is no longer a place in which I wish to participate.  The absolute brazen flaunting of multiple accounts along with some of the most daft and inane writings has made visiting WGT a chore and not a pleasure.

And so, until we meet again...  In the classic words of Douglas Adams:

"So long, and Thanks for All the Fish."

    Peace

Love your blog!!!  Are you referring to our favorite person?

    "Hypocrisy post"

Job well done on the forum entry you made. I too have had issues with two certain players who have left less than constructive remarks on my wall. While I do appreciate the option to have WGT intervene when necessary, I agree that it is poorly handled if they are removing wall posts from a wall. Every user has the capability to remove posts from their own wall, and whats on another players wall should be their business. Curious to see how long that forum post remains, any line on the over/under for it's deletion?

Hey what did your avatar used to be? I forgot, didn't realize it was "a problem".
