Yeah, yeah, this thread is not a community tournament per say; but it may have a huge effect on non-WGT-sponsored tournaments. Very recently, WGT opened its fan store, where the public can by T-shirts, sweatshirts, mousepads, hats, mugs, calendars, and bags, as well as buy gift certificates for friends. Many of these items are customizable, and the prices aren't too bad. How about starting a fund which goes to prizes for winners and finalists of community tournaments? This would be a way to entice players to participate in tourneys and give everyone more reasons to play. If a new tournament wanted prizes, they would first have to verify it with a fund committee, which would review the applied tournament and, maybe, give the organizer a questionnaire or something to see if they are worthy of handling a tournament with prizes. People who feel the urge to may donate money into the fund, probably via Paypal. Maybe there would be small thank-you gifts given to donors (although this would have to be after the fund has been substantially built up), and maybe donors would receive special benefits (not quite sure what that might be, but an idea I had was to hold invitational tournaments with large prizes or something). Please respond with any comments you have - if there's lots of positive feedback, and there are people willing to donate, the WGTCT (World Golf Tour Community Tournament) Fund - the name can be changed! - can get started! Thanks everyone.
