  I don't see how to add someone as a friend so we can play together.

  Find their profile page under 'WGT PLAYERS' at the top of the page.

  Go to their page.

  Above their name there will be 'add as friend' button, click it.

  It will send a friend invite to that person that they may accept or decline.

  Well, you don't have to be friends to send an invite.  When you're on the multiplayer host setup screen you can simply click the MANUAL button and type in any screen name you want to invite.

  To answer your question though, you'll need to visit that player's profile and click the ADD FRIEND button to put them on your list.  Once they'll accept it you'll see each other.
