We don't, as a rule, experience the type of issues you describe (at least not to that degree), and that's why we enjoy the game greatly. Check this thread for some tips on how to resolve your issues.
As to distance complaints, you just need to spend a few bucks to buy better equipment, for example the Rapture club set ($27.18) or the Tour Starter set ($7.82). I think the developers definitely deserve to get rewarded for their great work in creating this game. If you disagree, then just play with the free basic equipment, but you shouldn't complain about distances...
