    There is a special file called _cache_map which is an index to all the files in the cache.  Now, this file can become corrupt at times.  Is there a way to manually invoke repair without having to clear your cache.

    When installing Firefox its based optimization is on a dial-up connection.  The following link will provide better performance on Broadband and DSL connections.  Higher end computers with 2Gig of ram can also benefit from this guide.

    Thanks for the heads up niv ... set my caches to 250 mb  just to be sure ...

    Heh-infinito made me nervous. I shut off the clear option on exit and bumped the cache from 50 to 500. (50!-had no idea it was so small!!)
