I'm just curious Yiannis you were able to play the Qualifier and posted an amazing 52 -- certainly good enough to qualify.  Did you get an email that you can't play after Q'ing is over?  --- just wondering how you know you can't play....

    Nope...just read the rules:

    2. Eligibility.

Participation in the Contest is open to individuals who are 18 years of age or older. Note, however, that only individuals who are legal residents of and physically located in the fifty United States and the District of Columbia, Canada (excluding Quebec), the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Norway, Ireland, The Netherlands, and South Korea who are 18 years of age or older or the age of majority in the entrant's state or province/territory ("province") of residence, whichever is greater are eligible to win prizes.

Never said i can't play, i said that iam excluded of winning the prize.

So the plan is to let individuals that can't win any prizes compete in match play against those who can?

They must have deemed it fair to match up two players in which one player has something to play for and the other has nothing.

It's easy to see how businesses grow to a certain point and then hit a wall.

I am not trolling, I have in fact been discussing this issue for some time,  Trolling would be something like.

    lonniescott711:
You googled it and read nothing which tells me you know nothing at all .

    lonniescott711:
Maybe when you become more computer literate you will learn how to use one

I will try to answer your post without resorting to these sort of personal insults, forgive me if I slip a little but I do feel a touch annoyed.  The first of the quotes in particular really tells me off.

In fact I read five or six articles and they were a little contradictory (hence my confusion) but in general it seems that Greece would like to keep it  (online gambling) as a monopoly but European Court of Justice is pushing them to open it up. In none of the articles I read was it suggested  "Even though your country does allow casino gambling . It does not allow online gambling of any kind " was true.

I don't know how many articles you read but it seems they were different to those I saw.  As I did look at a few it's not computer literacy that's the problem here, however I have no problem with admitting that a short time on Google doesn't make me an expert on Greek law.

    lonniescott711:
In todays times people google the information they wish to learn thats how its done .

Maybe they do but it's just a search engine that takes you to articles that people have written,  that's reading but not neccessarily learning.  If someone wants to show something is or isn't true it's probably possible to find articles supporting both.  Perhaps none of this matters though if we just cut to:

    lonniescott711:
As to what other game events Yiannis is allowed to play was not mentioned . But if he can enter and play the other credit events then there is no reason for him to not be qualified to enter the tournament .That not only goes for him but for all of the other players as well .

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the first sentence, minimal (local) research tells me he has earnings of $6,932.12 and lets me see diamond rg tournament awards.

As to the rest of it; of course he can enter, he sits 3rd equal.  That is the point, he can enter it but he can't win the prize.  The difference is in the other credit events he can win the prize.  How does that sit with it being down to his countries laws?

    lonniescott711:
So you can lol all you want . It doesnt make me look small . But it does make you look ignorant .

    That's about this:  lonniescott711:

"So now you know why you dont qualify for these tournaments .

    Lol"

I'm sorry, maybe it did seem like I was laughing at you and it's maybe just writing style.  What it sounded like to me was bit of googling from you gets the absolute truth, no questions, no arguements.

This has been discussed in a few threads and a few people have given opinions but that's what they are.  If I was to have a wild guess at what's going on with this I'd say that was what I was doing, not present it as a fact and the end of the matter.

If it makes me look ignorant then fine I can handle that and it shouldn't cause you any distress or give you reason to make more trolling accusations or personal slurs.

@ Dodgy Putter You came barking up my tree . My post was in no way directed at or to you You decided that you wanted to attack me or make all of your replies directed at me . So yes I will respond to you since your comments were to me . I didnt write the information which I read I only relayed it . There must have been some truth since Yiannis knew the law that I was speaking as well as its change , which the article failed to mention .

Your being annoyed goes with your confusion . I care less about either one since my reply to this thread was not directed to you . That seems to be the most important thing you fail to understand . I can take being corrected which Yiannis did with no help from you .

The fact that WGT is pulling a double cross on players is wrong . The fact that they can play all of the other types of tournaments for credits but not the other prizes makes no sense . If everything else is legal in his country for him to do then why not this . I understand  now that this is the question that WGT needs to answer .

Its probably all due to cost and nothing more . WGT is only willing to spend so much on some of these prizes . Its far cheaper to pay air fare for some one from say Florida than from Greece . As cheap as WGT is thats probably it and nothing more ..They arent willing to pay to fly players from half way around the world .

So anyway this is my third and final reply to this matter . unfortunately it includes you but thats to your own doing .In the future I would suggest that you refrain from making your comments to other players . Keep your replies to the posters and leave everyone else alone .

None of my replies were trolling posts as trolling is not what I do . Also they werent directed to you . That is not until you wanted to get personal . Dont dish it out it you cant take it . Just that simple and have a nice day .

When i am talking about the prize, i mean the big prize. There are always credits involved for the qualifiers, the winners of the brackets.

I'm sorry to be so daft that I don't understand (again) but are you a "player" or a "poster"?

My comments were directed at you as you stated something as a fact that was an opinion and as, you yourself say, a poorly informed one.  Where was I supposed to direct it?

As the last sentence is clearly an order I will of course obey ;-)

    I would beg to differ.

    If i may guys...

For me, yours is a simple and typical forum like missunderstanding because both of you realized and understood the heart of the problem. Frankly, i don't expect any wgt's response cause Lonnie's reasoning is beyond doubt true. However, and i repeat it once more as a lawyer, i don't see any problems with our current legislation about partecipating and winning prizes on net games as WGT. WGT lacks all the prerequisities to be classified as a pure gambling game.

When I read the rules, my interpretation is that only eligible players will advance to the bracket, so you (and me) won't get any credits from the tournament. I hope to be wrong of course...
