I'm -5 on my round at Augusta and on the 12th tee box watching the wind and trying to decide what club to hit?  This new variable wind feature is a killer.

Pin is cut on the right side, 155yds, down 12 ft, I'm playing Nike VR Forged level 97s and playing a NIKE 20XI-X RZN Balls (L61+)

So what kinda shot do you recommend, (full?, punch?), what iron?, what power?, what spin? and where you gonna aim?

I'd be inclined to punch a shot into that changing wind. Worst case scenario is you catch the big gust and the shot gets knocked down. A punch reacts less to this and with top spin will plow through the wind.

With the 33 Callaway and Vapors, I'd punch a 7i with 3/4 top spin and aim right at the stick.. Keep the shot as low as possible without catching that slope in front of the green. I'd also stay away from using bs. Long is better than short for sure.

Punching that 7i lets me take a full swing. Any other shot is going to require choking down and that's so variable I wouldn't want to chance the short deviation and wind up wet. JMO. :-)

I thought about that too.  But I mapped my punch 7I no spin at 147 and adding topspin will take a few yds off.  As a test. Pinehurst from red tees is 157 down 1.

Punch 7I, full, 3/4 TS crosswind carried 143 to a spot down 3.  #12 would be down 12 so add 3yds of carry.  146yds is probably wet. JMO ;-)

Interesting. My 7i does the same thing and rolls a bit at the end and that was uphill slightly. 141 is the edge of the water so I would expect a minimum of getting to the slope before the green. The top spin would keep it from rolling back.

PH 15 is almost flat to the tee whereas your example is more downhill. It would be close. Maybe choking the 6i punch is a better play.

Ask your caddy. Make him earn some of that big money he makes.

Or ask Jordan what he would do?  ;-))
