Thanks for your feedback on the WGT LIVE event. We'll follow-up next week with more details on that.

However, I wanted to make sure everyone was clear that the WGT LIVE event in Dec does not impact the Virtual Tour Championship in Dec.

Here's how the Virtual Tour Championship will work...

    • After the final Virtual Tour monthly events in Sep, Oct and Nov, the Virtual Tour Season standings will be updated on 12/1/14, and the Top 70 players at that point in each WGT Tier (Tour Legend, Legend, Tour Master, Master, Tour Pro, Pro) will automatically qualify to play in the Virtual Tour Championship. With 6 WGT Tiers that's 420 players who can qualify for the Virtual Tour Championship.

    • The Virtual Tour Championship will be an online tournament, starting 12/2/14 and consisting of 2-4 single-play stroke-play rounds on the 2-4 courses from the Virtual Tour Major events, Kiawah, Olympic, Merion and Pinehurst No. 2.

    • Based on the combined scores in those Virtual Tour Championship rounds, the Top 70 players in each WGT Tier will split the ONE MILLION WGT Credit prize purse, based on the standard WGT tournament payout schedule. We're finalizing the allocation of that prize pool across tiers to best award top players, but all 560 players who qualify and post scores will receive some share of the purse.

    • As always, the final tournament rules and eligibility will be published with the Virtual Tour Championship launches in Dec, but everyone should play in the Sep, Oct and Nov Virtual Tour events, in order to finish in the Top 70 in their tier by Nov, so they qualify for the Dec championship. And by the end of Sep, we'll update the Virtual Tour Season leaderboard so everyone can check their position relative to the Top 70 cutline.

    Thanks for the heads-up, Shoe.

    Some Qs:

    - How will you decide the top Hack & Amateur players, since they don't receive credit prizes in the Tour tournaments and there's no season leaderboards for them?

    - What does "2-4" mean in the following line?

    WGTdbloshoe:
    2-4 single-play stroke-play rounds on the 2-4 courses

Is the number variable? Is there a cut?

I'm curious to see official news on the qualification and conditions of the Live event with it's own Virtual Tour Championship.

Good question about the Hack and Am.  I will double check to see if they are just basing it off the leaderboard of that that week.

2-4 means depending on what is decided in the next month or so we can run something different.  Just keeping the options open on what we are going to do.  Also don't want to tell players exactly which courses they would be playing.

Curious Q: Which would be "that week" in a monthly tournament?

You had a reason to exclude the Hs and As from credit prizes in the Tour - why not continue and exclude them from the Championship? After all, most of those competing in November will have been promoted out of these tiers until the online Tour Championship. You'd also have a hard time to pick the multis from these leaderboards...

I also see the point for "2-4". Originally, you planned Dec. 1-4 for four rounds, now you delayed the start to Dec. 2 and perhaps need to exclude Dec. 4 as a preparation day for the Live Event and the Live Tour Championship.
