You dig up a thread over 2 years old to impart this pearl of wisdom? You might want to take a peek at what relevance means.

Great first post, you'll go far.

    20/25       given distance    *.02

    25/30        given distance  * .03

    30/40        given distance  * .08

    40/50        given distance  * .115

    50/60        given distance  * .24

hope this helps. Add the answer to the distance

    80 yards to the pin in 30/40    80 * .08 = 6.4 + 80 = 86 yards to the pin

    Take into account

    1) the distance to the target. Different factors may apply when using long irons or woods.

    2) the clubs used. "good" clubs (=high levels) provide better, less influenced shots!

Personally, I say practise, practise and more practise.

The advice, even if not the spelling, was good almost 5 years ago. It's still good today! :-)

Also, please note what's between you and the target, and how much roll out to allow.

In my experience, when you are hitting from the rough and there's a trap between you and the target, you'll usually find it. If you clear it, the ball will generally roll off the green.

I may be playing Pinehurst too often.

The important thing to notice when you play from the rough is that you are not playing a dead center hit anymore but a top spin shot.

Furthermore....a single formula does not apply to every iron. 9 iron is a light club, 3 iron is heavy, therefore the result will be different. Same thing goes for wedges 2.

from this side of the pond practise is the correct spelling

if used as a noun then it is practice,if using as a verb then it is practise in this case i was using it as a verb

come to think of it i am disgusted that somebody who probably spells colour without a u would try and give me spelling lessons
