To ensure the best experience possible while playing WGT, please be sure you meet our minimum sytem requirements, and take the following steps to optimize your system.

    Minimum System Requirements

    • Flash version 9 or newer, preferably Flash 10. Download the Flash Player here .
    • DSL-speed internet connection or faster
    • 2GHz Pentium 4 processor or faster
    • 1GB RAM or higher, preferably 2GB RAM or higher
    • 1024 x 768 screen resolution, preferably 1280 x 800 or higher. Click here to watch a quick tutorial on how to change your screen resolution.

    Disable Popup Blocker

To disable your popup blocker, follow these instructions: http://www.wgt.com/forums/p/252/854.aspx

    Enable cookies on your browser

Instructions on how to enable cookies:

Close and exit all other applications

Make sure the browser with WGT playing is the only application running on your system. Also regularily running a program to clean your system of spyware and viruses will greatly increase the game's performance. Any application that uses your system's RAM (memory) or CPU will slow down your game.

    Flash Storage Settings

Make sure your browser allows flash content. Go to the Adobe Storage Setting Manager by clicking here . Move the slider so that you are allotting at least 100KB to storing flash objects. Check the "Allow third party Flash content" and "Store common Flash components" checkboxes.

    Security Settings

Make sure the security setting on your browser is not set to High. This may prevent you from viewing certain things on the site. Also, people who have CA Security Center installed on their computers have been known to have problems viewing the site. Disabling some of the features in the program seems to solve the problem. You can read more about it here: http://www.hallicious.com/2009/05/ca-security-center-browser-problems . Please note that WGT has not tested these suggestions and that you should follow them at your own risk.

If you experience an error message when loading the game:

Clear your browser and Adobe Flash cache.

Please do not do this if the loading takes a long time.  Clearing your cache will increase load times.

As we make updates and improvements to the site, there is the possibility that an updated file will become incompatible with a file that was cached in your browser from a previous session. The symptoms you would see are if you see an error message while loading the game or if one of the two flash widgets on the top left of the screen with your friends list does not show properly. In these cases, it is necessary to clear your cache in order to get the game working properly again. Please note that your cache should not be cleared too often, as the game depends on large files cached to your browser, and having to download them frequently will slow down performance.

    • Clear Browser cache: Click here for instructions.
    • Clear Adobe Flash cache: Click here , and click the "Delete all sites" button in the Settings Manager.

If you experience hiccups during putting

Turn off your putting grid by going into the game options menu and setting the Putting Grid to "off".

    Run disk clean-up

Disk clean-up frees up space in your computer, and takes just a few minutes to run. In Windows XP, go to All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup to start the process.
