I also think WGT would stop giving coins away for free each day as well.

Maybe, but you have to consider the free coin give aways are trivial to an extent... some days my "free coin award" does not even register but I am not going to write WGT and complain about 75 - 1000 coins when such a miniscule amount has no real bearing on my coin balance.  If WGT were create a market for conversion, it would be absurdly high -  I wouldn't project anything less than 5 Million coins for a sleeve of high credit balls.  Hence the problems with "printing coins" to follow.

I believe we are both familiar with a club member that has been around for a very long time and gathered his share of free silver coins clicking through mobile videos and I believe his silver coin tally without playing coin games is around 2.5 million... so despite accummulating a lot of "free coins" he still wouldn't be in the market to exchange them for balls at what I suspect would be an extremely high exchange rate.  Hence why I suggest the free coin offerings are trivial.

But we are just speculating on something I don't foresee happening but I would admit I was wrong if this ever changed.  The day it does change, I will strongly reconsider playing higher end balls in coin games... until then I refuse to invest high quality balls in something with such little exchange value.

doesn't the apparel only work in coin matches and clashes?

This is true but I know there were a few reported glitches where Apparel crossed over in match play and AS... I haven't heard or read about it in awhile so it could have been addressed or resolved.  But there are times when apparel should be available but something happens even in coin games and it throws things off... not sure what causes that either.

Either way, I think we are on the same page... the posts that followed would likely be quite the comic relief to a degree.

By the way, doesn't the apparel only work in coin matches and clashes? I always thought that for everything else (for example, regular ranked rounds, tournaments, and ready gos), the apparel doesn't work.

You are right.  Coin matches include turf wars.  So, though I am mainly desktop, I do support my mobile contingent with turf war rounds, and they support the rest of the club with clashes.  We all win extra passes, which can then be used in turf wars, where we win super passes that we can use in clashes.  Works out nicely and gives us team spirit on both platforms.

    Magic happens!

Exchanging coins for credits is a terrible idea.

I would not call it a terrible idea, it has some value ... but it will never happen without major changes to the game which are also unlikely.  But i agree people would have issue from various perspectives with this but those already exist but there is less incentive to accummulate coins.

The problem as i see it, coin rooms can be used as virtual printing presses of coins which allow players to create more coins than WGT removes with their cut taken in each game and in turn creating more coins without buying them.  I know of nothing in desktop credit gold that allows players to win more than what is removed in a challenge match.  Yet, this is also a result from the addition of sponsor apparel.

It would likely require removing sponsor apparel and the coin game specialist would have a fit over that.  I have never felt sponsor apparel was good for the game but use it for coin games because it allows me to play a much cheaper ball than i would play on desktop pc, which is also equivalent to the free ball wgt hands out.  So for some players wgt is losing out on higher end ball sales due to implementing sponsor apparel.  But they dont expect all players to be so practical.

So while i cant buy balls using silver coins, i save thousands of credits by using sponsor apparel with a lower end ball.  I guess in that way... wgt is saving me credits.

You’d be surprised at how many Ps, TPs and Ms I ran across in coin rooms who are rocking expensive Titleist and TM balls. I was all like “dude why are you wasting credits?” So yeah coins definitely have their value: an alternate revenue stream for WGT.
