  Has a newcomer to WGT & not a massive golf fan im finding puttig very had (even on ameteur) is there anyway i can practice my putting only.

  No. But you can play a practice round and knock the ball to and fro on the greens until you reach the maximum shot allowance.

  kiawah island 1st hole is a good place to practice the green is really flat 

  ok  your putter scale , set it for 30 feet find the middle of the scale and practice  15 foot putts, but don't hit him into the hole.when you max out your shots go back and start over again. if you do this in a practice mode remember to set the green speed or if you do a in a ranked round mode it will set the green speed for you.
