Round 1 Snatchemup (UFVG) 73    BRIMAG 1 75   both legends so no strokes either way.

A very good match. Brian started great and was up 4 strokes when disaster struck on one par 3. Two shot swing and momentum shift  Good game Brian. Had fun.

Stevielee62 and I had a "lovely" stroll around Merion.  Stevie started very well with 2 birdies right out of the gate and I was very quickly 3 shots back, but then Stevie's putter was grabbed and throttled viciously by WGT.  After the sixth I was only 1 down.  I was lucky enough to roll in my approach on number seven for an eagle (Which, upon reflection, I should have saved for the best shot competition. LOL) to take the lead. Thanks to some short wedge approaches on the back nine I was able to sink some very short putts for birdies while the golf gods were busy making sure that Stevie didn't make a putt, except for one beauty on seventeen for a birdie. We both finished with bogey and were never so glad to head to the 19th hole. "Cheers"

     Final score was:

    DaveDwingdale (UFVG)  66

    stevielee62 (Derbyshire Rejects)  73

I was fortunate to pay well on the front 9 while Kevan was cursed by the putting gods. He had many unlucky near misses. He rebounded and bested me on the back 9. A couple more holed putts by Kevan and this would have been a nail biter til the end. A good time with a great guy.

It's all about positioning on those greens at Merion and Greg and I did not have an easy go of it.  Despite my 131yd eagle on 17, Greg had the more consistent round and took the match in the end.  We had a good time and shared a few laughs out there.  I tried to save the shot to submit for shot of the round, but unfortunately didn't do it properly - oh well.

Scored 67 to tiptoptoppin's 69. Very close game all along with good shots either side and some mess ups as well. I had two chip ins which probably got me over the line . GOod game.

Pillow fight is a good term for this match. AcesandPlaces had a double on 6and 17 and a triple on  8 to deflate the match a little. I threw up 5 bogies myself. Sneezburpfart, glad it's over.
