Common reasons why beginners don't score very well (especially for Bethpage Black) is that they just aim according to the yardage, and take aim for the flag without taking much account for the green slopes and hazards around the green, so here's a brief hole-by-hole course management tip guide, in which new players to this site may find to be useful.

    Bethpage Black:

Hole 1: Aim left on tee shot, aim right on second shot

Hole 2: Club up, use backspin on second shot

    Hole 3: Don't club down

Hole 4: Don’t miss fairway, never end up short on 3rd shot

Hole 5: Avoid bunkers on 2nd shot, lay up if wind is against you

Hole 6: Don't aim far right on 2nd shot, aim away from bunkers

Hole 7: Aim LEFT on tee shot

Hole 8: Don’t club down too much

Hole 9: Aim right on tee shot, aim away from bunkers and club up on second shot

Hole 10: Lay up unless there’s tailwind

Hole 11: Don’t attack the pin flag on 2nd shot; aim towards the fairway strip leading to green

Hole 12: Use backspin on tee shot

Hole 13: Don’t risk landing in bunker on second shot

Hole 14: Use backspin, club up slightly

Hole 15: Lay up unless strong tailwind. Use huge amounts of backspin on 3rd shot if lay up, and aim slightly long

Hole 16: Be careful with 3rd shot (a pitch shot)

Hole 17: Backspin, club up, don’t attack pin if near bunkers

Hole 18: Club up, backspin, don’t attack pin if it’s far right

    Kiawah Island:

Hole 1: Club up slightly on 2nd shot

Hole 2: Don’t cross hazard on 2nd shot if headwind, use backspin on 3rd shot

Hole 3: Aim slightly short on second shot

Hole 4: Aim away from bunker on 2nd shot

Hole 5: Backspin, club up, avoid sand at all costs

Hole 6: Don’t miss the green

Hole 7: Club down on third shot

Hole 8: Don’t club down too much

Hole 9: Long is better than short for 2nd shot

Hole 10: 2nd shot: Club up, aim right if needed, to avoid sand at all costs

Hole 11: Club down slightly on third shot

Hole 12: Don’t club up on 2nd shot

Hole 13: Club up slightly on second shot

    Hole 14: Club down slightly

Hole 15: Club up slightly on 2nd shot

Hole 16: Club up but not too much on 3rd shot

Hole 17: Avoid water and bunkers at all costs

Hole 18: 2nd shot: Right is better than left

    St. Andrews:

Hole 1: Club up on second shot

Hole 2: Club up very slightly, with backspin

Hole 3: Clubbing down is pivotal on 2nd shot

Hole 4: Don’t risk getting your ball in the fescue on tee shot

Hole 5: If green is reachable, club down slightly on 2nd shot

Hole 6: Club up slightly on 2nd shot, backspin

Hole 7: Tee shot: Aim for regular rough, avoid fescue; Second shot: Aim for the left portion of the bunker to have a chance of reaching the green

Hole 8: Don’t go over the green

Hole 9: Just avoid the rough and bunkers

Hole 6: Don’t miss the green

Great tips. Hopefully I can lower my scores now. I especially benefited from reading the best tip you provided, which is above. I'll give it a go!

Thank you very much. I will use this to improve my game. I also emailed this to avatar lee, bollox, and few other fellas in my friend list.

I vote for this to become WGT Bible!

Exactly, and to add, the OP uses standard issue clubs and this is aimed at new players.

This is a link to printable overviews of each hole. The yardages are from the Master tees but you can see the other tee boxes and with the guide above you'll have a head start in learning the courses.
