You dug up a thread from Feb. 2016, and as you said it's been going on for quite a while. To date, WGT has done nothing about it. What makes you think they ever will?
The only thing I can think of to avoid the problem is to play against friends and not random players. I don't play mobile, so I don't know how easy it is to do that. But WGT is not going to punish possible customers for this, or a solution would already have been implemented.
Does it suck? Absolutely. Will it change? Don't get your hopes up. Good Luck and try to enjoy the game.
