Oh what might have been...
I made the turn at -9 with high hopes, not playing great, but putting fantastic. Then I started the back 9 with four straight two putt pars. 10, 11, and 13, my putter couldn't overcome the bad positions my irons put me in, and I missed one I should have had on 12, probably out of frustration at a round that was quickly getting away from me.
My highlight came on 14. A perfect "go for it" wind put me in the middle of the fairway 239y out. My conservative approach held the green on the far right 41' from the pin. I felt I made a good read on this double breaker and then I hit the ding. After taking the big break, the ball barely made it to the top of the hill before starting down. Then swinging hard back the other way, the ball slowly trickled all the way to the hole and the bottom of the cup. A rare eagle on the difficult par 5 14th!
I couldn't reach the green into the wind on 18, but found birds on 3 of the last 4 holes, leaving me with a 58 that could have been so much better.
