A personal-best 54 for me at RSG this week. Pars on #2 and #18 and a 15-birdie streak in between (got a Crystal Birdie Streak award for that). #18 hurt because my approach almost stopped about a foot from the cup but just wouldn't hold the green, and my flop for birdie missed by 15 inches.

Special bonus: I knocked one of my old club owners off the top of the Leaderboard.

Congratulations to brianmartin56! He won the New Year Open by ".20" of a stroke over 2nd place. Brian grabbed the lead with a (at the time) Tour record "63" in the 2nd round, and never let go. He walks away with some shiny new golf balls, a gold trophy, and 5 valuable and heavily coveted Tour points.

We had an unusual tie for 2nd place between wags700 and GArmstrong8. They both will be getting a silver trophy and 4 Tour points. GArmstrong8 also now has the distinction of being the first and only player (so Far) to post a sub 60 score. His record "59" in the final round vaulted him into that tie for 2nd.

The rest of the Top 10 will all be receiving 2 Tour Points, and all the rest of the players listed on the above leaderboard will be receiving 1 Tour point. I will post a "points race leaderboard" later in the month.

And with that the Groundhog Day ...Again tournament is underway!

The first round is at Kiawah. With virtually all participants starting with a handicap this time, it should make for some interesting shuffling of the leaderboard over the next 4 weeks.
