  Does anyone know if the rental discount is applied to gifted clubs or is it only good for a club I buy for myself?

  I think it's only good for clubs you buy for yourself.  I rented a set of irons yesterday and tried to gift those irons to another player, but the price in the Send Gift box came up as the normal (non-discounted) price.
