on this day .
1995 .
Voters in Quebec narrowly defeated a referendum that proposed sovereignty for the province within a new economic and political partnership with the rest of Canada..
It was a really close one and I remember as if it was yesterday.
The only thing engraved in my head now is Jacques Parizeau, the head of Parti Québécois then, semi-pickled (as usual) in front of a bottle and a glass of wine staring at the result of votes.
Funny that these leaders always declaim us the public about the importance of sovereignty, preservation of our distinct unique culture & language, the whole nine yards while sending & educating their kids in US & UK, nurturing them in English culture. LMAO
