I'm not sure if there's additional info in the new game stat's or if I never looked very closely before but what's there tempted me to work out my overall average is 63.60.

I know this is almost meaningless, it's like when someone is told by another to "get their ave dist and pph down to...", it really depends what you've played, with what equipment, for how long, etc.  Unfortunately I've no idea how many bop3/5 are included and I do know there are many uel rounds so it is what it is, a flat and calm bop3 will count the same as a windy bop5 uel round.

Anyway in case anyone wants to do this, wgt tell us:

    Rounds 7,927

    Strokes 299,888

From counting how many pars, birdies etc

    #Holes played: 84,870

    So simply 299,888 / 84, 870 = 3.533....(strokes per hole) x 18 = 63.60

I also decided to see how many 9 and 18 hole rounds I'd played and also check my average this way.

84,870/9 = 9,430. So enough holes for that many 9 hole rounds but I've played 7,927 so....

    9,430 - 7,927 = 1,503 and that many must be 18 hole.

    6,424 9 hole rounds

    1,503 18 hole rounds

or 3124 (half no of 9's) and 1,503 = 4,715 to check average.

    299,888 / 4,715 = 63.60

I do realise this is of little or no value but just thought I'd post in case there was another sad git wondering what their overall average is.  Also someone will probably tell me why what I've done doesn't work :-/

oops forgot: # I didn't count HIO's as I reckoned they'd be in eagles or albatrosses I'm not sure this is right but it seemed to work out that way.

The number of 9 and 18 hole rounds are in your awards section, master your game, your figures are correct btw.

    @DodgyPutter

I take a bit of a different approach. I calculate my lifetime average for the standard par 72 course.

In other words, I calculate the lifetime average based on my current par 3, par 4, and par 5 averages for a course with 4 par 3s, 10 par 4s, and 4 par 5s.

    (2.79 * 4) + (3.63 * 10) + (4.21 * 4) = 64.3 (lifetime average)

It seems to give fairly similar results.

    Mine your way is (2.71 x 4) + (3.61 x10) + (4.18 x 4) = 63.66

You currently have 135,322 shots in 4,135 holes.

    = 3.579 per hole x 18 = 64.42.

Should be 3212 not 3124.  But 4715 is correct.

Sorry; at least the number that mattered was right :-)

It was a bit of a pain, I wrote it as a google doc and tried to copy and paste that in here but wgt wouldn't let me, a security issue apparently. So then I had to actually copy it and I'll be surprised/pleased if that's the only mistake.
