  After a month of 70’s in this tourney, I finally had a round where close ones dropped (mostly) instead of wrinkling on by the hole.  I still had two 3-putts (after all, it WAS Oakmont), but I had 13 one-putts, for 2 bogeys and 11 birdies.  

  61 — a great round for me anywhere, but especially at Oakmont.

  very nice round AD!

  I wasn't so fortunate on those wrinkly putts as 3 of them inked on by within a whisker of an American Pygmy Shrew. 

  The good thing is, 8 of them did go in for a 62 for me this week.

  Pretty solid Week 18 for me at Oakmont. Made a few putts and hit a few close! 61 for me.

  My play had me really struggling to start my round. My putting was slightly off the entire round (slightly off = couldn't have made a putt if the hole was 10 feet wide). Fortunately I started hitting some really nice approaches on 9 and my wedge play was fantastic any time I could get a wedge in my hand. With the bird on 9, I made the turn at -5 and then continued making a few birds. My highlight came on 12. After laying up to a good distance for a full wedge, I made the right read of how it would play and holed out from 71 yards.

  My final score of 58 was probably better than I deserved.

  I don't always catch when this happens to one of our Tour players, but...
