Hi all. I am currently a legend and want to progress to tour legend. I have played many tour legends who have played less ranked rounds and have a higher scoring average than mine. I currently have an average score of just under 62. I would be grateful for any help or advice

    thanks

You need a 60.000 average and 500 ranked Legend(!) rounds.

there is the old standard way and the newer option -- coin game specialist who play and win in the higher stakes rooms and building up coin bankrolls have also been known to get promoted without the ranked round requirement.

if you are seeing examples of that in coin rooms with few ranked rounds, it is because of something along these lines.

The scoring average you see for players is their average at their current tier.  So you might see a Tour Legend with an average of 64, but that is only their average since advancing to Tour Legend. (Unless they were a coin room specialist) they had an average < 60 at Legend tier and then advanced to Tour Legend.  The first round you play at Tour Legend becomes your new average, so if you shoot a 38 your first round you now have a 76 average as a Tour Legend despite being < 60 on your last day as a Legend.

What are the criteria for coin players to advance up tiers?  I played a coin player last week who was a TL.  He had never played a ranked round.

He also missed both fairways and the one green before he ff'd.

Still, what are the criteria for coin players?

It is all public for the old-fashioned regular players.

    Tom.

    This is quite unexplored territory.

A few level numbers have been thrown around for lower tiers, but some have expressed that skills may come to effect in the higher ranks.

Nothing from the company, as expected. The grind must stay in secrecy.

I believe there may be some generalized factors used by WGT, but I also believe as players have discovered some possible contributing factors, that they can or have exploited them to speed up a promotion for whatever reason similar to what some would do by using match play on flash.

Most of the time I would say it is largely experienced based progression in the coin rooms with a reasonable degree of proficiency.  But since some have stumbled across players that don't seem to be quite as good as expected- either other factors are at play OR a family member picked up their mobile device and was trying out the game to see what it was like.  For example, maybe a parent has hundreds of millions of coins and a child ask to play to see what the parent appears to enjoy playing.  So they let them play a few games knowing they could lose over and over and it wouldn't matter to their coin bankroll.

Beyond that, I could speculate but that is all it would be... I think you would have to know the various examples the amount of activity in coin rooms, win loss records, which coin rooms they actually play, and whether others are throwing games to them in order to help them build their coin bankroll so they can be more active during TW's for their club.

Can be challenging to nail down specifics without tracking a variety of data points.

Or sometimes you just play with Jack Daniels as your caddy.

The only way it can be done is to track it yourself manually... i.e. the moment you tier up to Legend, write down how many RR you have and keep that number handy.  If you didn't do that, then unfortunately there's no way to know the exact number.

But you can at least get a bit of an estimate.  Your Activity doesn't show what date you tiered up to Legend.  But according to your Score History, the last (earliest) entry is this:

01.28.21 St Andrews Links: The Old Course Front 9 Legend 29

So you at least know that every RR you played on that date and after was at Legend tier.

    Hope this helps.
