In meaningless competitions or in Harry Potter's world, putting on a funny hat and driving a ball an extra 20 yards doesn't change the game. But, and here is where things really matter, if someone puts $1.00 of credits into a tournament pool, that person should not have to worry that some magic hat gave another competitor an unfair advantage.
In this era of performance enhancing drugs, debates rage as to whether Barry Bonds, Jr. or Sammy Sosa belong in Cooperstown. Should Lance Armstrong have been stripped of his Tour de France victories? Does an fmagnets victory count as honest if he wears Harry's hat and golf3x doesn't?
Arguments about red tees and average or tier status are meaningless because of WGT's method of computing average. Anyone holding up red tees as the same as a magic hat are creating noise to cloud the issue. The one thing that must be remembered about red tees is that they are the same distance from the hole for all of us.
The steroid that might give someone an extra burst of speed over 100 meters or allow for 5 additional centimeters in a shot put have no place in the Olympics. But if someone wants to "juice" and take part in World Wrestling Entertainment where the emphasis is on entertainment and not competition, there is no ethical problem. With WGT, however, ethics matter.
Please leave magic hats in the coin room closets and not allow them in the WGT locker rooms!
